Getting Started
You can begin by booking a Care Options Conversation or completing our Client Information Form.
Our team will learn about the person requiring care, the services needed, the preferred schedule, and any important care considerations. We will then explain the next steps and determine whether we can meet your needs.
A doctor’s referral is generally not required to arrange privately funded home care.
Some publicly funded programs, nursing services, or specialized care arrangements may have separate assessment or eligibility requirements.
No. There is no charge to contact us, discuss your care options, or submit the Client Information Form.
Charges begin only when services have been confirmed, scheduled, and provided according to your service agreement.
The start time depends on the type of support required, the requested schedule, the client’s location, caregiver availability, and whether all required information and documents have been completed.
Providing detailed information early can help reduce administrative delays.
Yes. Families may complete the intake and service-document process in advance so they are better prepared when support is needed.
Being on the active service list can reduce delays, but it does not guarantee immediate caregiver availability for every date or schedule.

In some circumstances, yes.
Services may be provided in a private residence, retirement community, assisted-living setting, or another appropriate location, subject to the rules of the residence and the client’s care needs.

Caregivers and Care Planning
We consider the client’s care needs, required qualifications, schedule, location, preferences, and caregiver availability.
The goal is to identify a caregiver who can safely provide the required support and fit the client’s routine as closely as possible.
We aim to provide consistency whenever possible.
However, more than one caregiver may be required to support longer schedules, evenings, weekends, overnight care, vacations, illness, or other staffing changes.
Yes. You may share preferences related to communication, language, experience, personality, cultural considerations, or other factors that are important to the client.
We will consider these requests, but we cannot guarantee that every preference will be available.
Caregivers go through Reliable Home Care’s hiring and screening process based on the responsibilities of their role.
Relevant qualifications, experience, references, and required documentation may be reviewed before they are assigned to clients.
Yes. With the client’s consent or appropriate legal authorization, family members and representatives can participate in planning, communication, and service reviews.
Contact our team when there is a change in health, mobility, behaviour, medication support, schedule, or daily routine.
We can review the existing care arrangement and determine whether the care plan, caregiver qualifications, or service schedule should be adjusted.
Certain nursing, foot-care, wound-care, and health-support services may be available through appropriately qualified professionals.
The type of care provided will depend on the client’s needs, applicable professional requirements, and staff availability.
The level of medication support depends on the client’s needs, the care plan, and the caregiver’s qualifications and authorization.
Services may range from reminders to assistance or administration by an appropriately qualified professional. These should be discussed with our team before care begins.
Our office will make reasonable efforts to arrange suitable backup coverage.
Replacement availability may depend on the timing, required qualifications, service location, and complexity of the care needs.

Costs and Payment
The cost depends on several factors, including:
• Type of service
• Caregiver qualifications
• Number of service hours
• Schedule and frequency
• Evening, weekend, or overnight requirements
• Client location
• Complexity of the care needed
After learning about your situation, our team can explain the applicable rates and service arrangement.
Charges apply when services are scheduled and provided according to the service agreement. Invoices are sent on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
There is no cost to submit the Client Information Form or complete the initial intake process.
Any applicable rates, minimum service requirements, travel considerations, cancellation terms, or other charges should be explained before services begin and outlined in your service agreement.
Private home care is generally paid for by the client, family, or another approved funding source.
Some individuals may qualify for publicly funded home care or Manitoba’s Self and Family Managed Care program following an assessment by the applicable regional health authority.
Some insurance plans, benefit programs, or other funding arrangements may cover certain home care services.
Coverage varies. Clients should confirm eligibility and reimbursement requirements directly with their insurer or funding provider.
Reliable Home Care may provide eligible non-professional services for approved Family Managed Care participants, subject to the client’s assessed care plan, approved hours, schedule, and our availability.
Eligibility and funding amounts are determined by the regional health authority, not Reliable Home Care.

Cancellations and Service Changes
Contact our office as soon as possible if a scheduled visit needs to be cancelled.
Notice requirements and any applicable cancellation charges will be outlined in the service agreement.
Services may be paused in some circumstances, such as hospitalization, travel, or a temporary change in need.
Contact our team to discuss the expected duration and how the pause may affect scheduling or caregiver availability.
Yes. Either party may end the service arrangement according to the terms and notice requirements contained in the service agreement.
